Children are precious. They're innocent. Impressionable. Curious. Learning. Growing. Cute. And they're giggly, oh are they ever. They smile. They cry. They get mad, but never for long. They need. They want. Most importantly: they love, and need to be loved. In everything we do and say. In our habits and routines, they follow, they learn and they repeat. You are a child's role model. It doesn't really matter who you are. If you are older, they look up to you. Give them good reason to. Show them the right way to act, teach them about life, about fun, but more than anything teach them how to love. Let them be loved.
The deepest satisfaction in an individuals life is to love and be loved back. Children need to be nurtured and comforted. They need to be held and kissed, rocked and cuddled. You gotta let them climbed on you, play with your hair, get piggy back rides and fall asleep in your lap. If they wanna hold your hand, why on earth would you say no? Grab their hand and don't let go until they do. Give them a gentle squeeze and let them know you care about them, that you're there for them and above all give them they love they deserve. Children only get to be little for so long. A short period we all got to experience of stress-free, worry-free and fun loving life. Oh what I wouldn't do to go back, even just for a day. So let them be little, cause they're only that way for so long. Bring out the pots and pans and let them break a few wooden spoons and dent a few metal bowls. So what if you get crayon on the wall, it will wash off. Stepped on another leggo, yeah it hurts, the pain will go away. Break out the coloring books, playdough, dress up and play house. Take out all the blankets and build forts. Pop out the tent in the living room and pretend you're camping. Laugh. Smile. LOVE.
A child simply wants to feel wanted. They want to know they're not alone. Yeah, they wanna be independent, but when they turn around they want to see you back there watching. Be there for them. Through everything. Not just when they're little, but as they grow up. They're your future, they're our future. Teach them how to love. Children are brought into this dark world, because it need light that only a child can bring. Give them the light they need so they can light up the world.
